Howard Clayton
Founding Member, Clayton Legal Group. Counsel to Texas families and business owners. Retired Army judge advocate.
Serving People
Howard Clayton's passion for estate planning and probate grew out of a hard truth: he has seen firsthand what happens when families don't plan. Over the course of his legal career, Howard has helped more than a thousand clients with non-litigation legal matters, with estate planning and probate forming the core of that work. That experience — watching estate planning failures devastate families — drives his commitment to helping clients protect their legacy and ensure their medical and life decisions are honored exactly as they intend.
Serving Businesses and Real Estate
Howard brings a rare depth of executive-advising experience to Texas business owners. He has spent years advising D-suite and B-suite managers on daily operations, and multiple tours advising C-suite executives on the full scope of law and regulation affecting their organizations. Upon retiring from the military, Howard served as head of litigation for one of the nation's largest real estate brokerages, managing everything from routine buyer-seller disputes to bet-the-company antitrust litigation, while advising on corporate risk, compliance, contracting, and the shifting landscape of real estate broker commission rules. A combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, Howard also spent multiple litigation tours in the Army representing soldiers and civilians alike in criminal and civil matters.
Serving the Community
When not representing clients, Howard volunteers with Civil Air Patrol and judges youth mock trial, moot court, speech, and debate competitions. He is a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
